Reading Week Celebration 19^th to 25^th June 2024.

College library in association with various Departments and IQAC celebrated reading week from 19^th to 25^th June 2024.

1.    INAUGURAL MEETING

Conducted inaugural meeting on 19^th June, 2014 11.30 a.m at digital library.Dr. Praveen Dhar convenor, Library advisory meeting welcome the meeting. Sri.Roy John Principal delivered inaugural address. Dr.Ambily CR IQAC Coordinator felicitated the programme. Sri.Baiju Joy Librarian and Coordinator of the programme delivered vote of thanks. 20 students and staff members attended the meeting.

 

2.    BOOK DISCUSSION 1

Conducted book discussion on 19^th June 2024 1.00 p.m. Smt.Sharon S Assistant professor Department of Politics presides over the meeting. Ms.Abhinaya P BCom Student introduced Alchemist authored by Brazilian novelist Paulo Coelho. And Ms.Biji Krishnan, MSc Physics student introduced Francis Itty cora  authored Malayalam author T D Ramakrishnan. 20 students and staff members attend the meeting. All participants share their views and reading experiences.

 

3.    BOOK DISCUSSION 2

Conducted book discussion on 20^th June 2024 1.00 p.m. Sri.Liju T Varghese Assistant professor Department of Malayalam presides over the meeting Mr.Al Ameen S BA Economics Student introduced Darknet authored by Adarsh S. And Ms.Silpa Gokul, BCom student introduced Arachar  authored Malayalam author K R Meera. Dr. Blessy John HoD, Department of English and Dr. Sreejai R, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology shared reading experiences. 26 students and staff members attend the meeting.

 4.    ELOCUTION COMPETITION

College library in association with Department of commerce Organized book elocution competition by on 21^th June 2024 11.30 a.m at digital library. Dr. Maja K Koshy Assistant professor Department of commerce welcomed  the meeting and Sri.Abraham Sam Varghese Assistant professor Department of Mathematics served as judge of the programme and conducted the programme on a theme “New world of reading” Mr.Al Ameen S BA Economics won first prize and Althaf Muhammed MS,BSc botany, Second prize. 33 students and staff members attend the meeting.

  

5.    LITERARY QUIZ COMPETITION

College library in association with Department of English organized book literary quiz competition by on 24^th June 2024 11.30 a.m at digital library. Ms. Hannah Mathew Assistant professor Department of English welcomed  the meeting and Sri.Stephen Marydas Assistant professor Department of English served as quiz master of the programme and conducted the programme. Department of Chemistry won first prize( team members: Suchithra G, S4 BSc Chemistry, Ramnadh R, S2 BSc Chemistry) and Department of English won Second prize ( Team members: Bhagya Dev J S4 B A English, Sivakumar M, S4 BA English).Department of Physics won the third prize ( Team members: Mrudhulesh Kumar S s4 BSc Physics, , Fousi S, S4 BSc Physics. Eight team from various department, students and staff members attend the meeting.

 

6.    BOOK DISCUSSION 3

Conducted book discussion on 25^th June 2024 1.00 p.m. Dr.R Sreejai Assistant professor Department of Zoology presides over the meeting Dr.Deepa T S introduced a book titled Padam Onnu:Athmaviswasam authored by Lipin Raj IAS. Participants shared their reading experiences. 14 students and staff members attend the meeting.

 

7.    ESSAY WRITING COMPETITION

College library in association with Department of Economics Organized essay writing competition by on 24^th June 2024 as online. 12 students registered the programme. Athira CS, IInd MSc Physics won first prize and Neena M Biju, won the second prize.

  

8.    POEM WRITING COMPETITION

College library in association with Department of Oriental languages Organized poem writing competition by on 24^th June 2024 as online. 13 students registered the programme. Silpa Gokul, S4 BCom won first prize and Gouthami R,S4 B A English and Parvathy M R, S4 BSc Mathematics won the second prize.

 

9.    SHORT STORY WRITING COMPETITION

College library in association with Department of Botany Organized short story writing competition by on 24^th June 2024 as online. 16 students registered the programme. Ms. Mayarani B, MSc Botany won first prize and Vaishnavi S Nair,S2 B A English and Al Ameen S, S4 BA Eonomics won the second prize.

  

10.BOOK REVIEW WRITING COMPETITION

College library in association with Department of Zoology Organized Book review writing competition by on 24^th June 2024 as online. 8 students registered the programme. Ms. Neenu C Shaji, S4 BSc Zoology won first prize and Vrindha Viswanathan,S4 B Sc Zoology and Vysakh R, S2 BA English won the second prize.

 

11.BOOK EXHIBITION

Book exhibition organized at college library from 19^th to 25^th June 2024.

 

  

 

12.Poster Presentation

Students presented posters on reading week.

Abhinaya P B Com, Kavya Nair MSc Botany, prepared posters.

 

13.CONCLUDING SESSION

Organized concluding session on 2^nd July 2024 12.30p.m. The meeting presided by the Mr.Roy John Pricipal and delivered presidential address and felicitated by Dr. Biju A, HoD Department of Zoology. Prize and certificates distributed to all winners of the programme conducted during the week.
